At Parasha Chaje Sarah

At this time, I use it for studying Thora and the upcoming Parasha „Chaje Sarah“; the Lifetime of Sarah.
Chaje Sara, the Parasha, fascinates me again and again: Above all, how the events are presented, how Elieser, Avraham’s servant, finds the „right“ wife for Yitzhak and ultimately Riwka herself decides whether she wants to go with her future husband. „Elech“, I will go, is her reply and inevitably we are reminded of the summons to „Awraham“, „Lech Lecha“, go, which he followed without hesitation. Rivka is much more like Avraham than Sarah. Riwka, her generosity, her enthusiasm and energy with which she welcomes the guest, her attitude that goes far beyond mere duty, reflect Avraham’s hospitality to the three divine emissaries who come to announce the birth of a son to Sarah. Yitzchak and Rivka are the bearers of the Jewish future. So this radiant young woman (Gen 24:16), who cannot yet leave her parents‘ house without a wet nurse (Gen 24:59), sets out. She receives a blessing from her family that reminds us of the divine promise to Avraham: „You shall become a thousand myriads…“. (Gen 24:60)
